******************************************************************* NOTICE: PFED_033.ZIP going around is a HACK and possibly a VIRUS!!! ******************************************************************* 05/27/94 ßETA 40 ■- OVERLAY VERSION - I've seen the # of error ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ reports going increasingly up, seemed like more ALL THOSE i added more memory problems i had. I've now put ERROR #14's the archive viewer, boomlab, logs, and conf editor into overlays. Program now takes about 210k or so NEW OVERLAY to run, previously was 290ish. Should mean VERSION! fewer problems, some functions will be quicker also. Let me know if this helps. Max # of files per dir is now 6,000 let me know if this is a problem. Will optimizing more in the future to run smaller. I think i didnt notice any problems cause i had small file dirs, the larger ones cause the problems. (The Master <THT>) ■- Add (B)BS Stats to conference menu, shows daily BBS Stats totals for # calls, Posts, UL's, DL's, New Users total time used & % in use. Input a starting date and node # and it'll process the callers log. ■- To run the Master list from DOS, use 'PFED LIST' now. ■- Added error descriptions for a lot of errors. ■- MAJOR BUG - If PCBFiler put OFF-LINE for the date it would hard crash PFED and you'd end up having to reboot. OFF-LINE Bug PFED was putting OFF-LINE for filesize, now also puts it for the date when deleting files. (The Master) ■- BUGS: If the strip courier/uploader was 'Y' it would also strip blank lines - fixed. Bugs... ∙ If doing a util from main conf menu, conference it would always move the cursor back to conf 0 - fixed ∙ If a new dir was added or inserted it may of gotten some garbage in it that wont let it work - delete it and re-add or insert. ∙ BOOMLab doesn't like ASC chars #30 () & char #31 () so its strips them outta DIZ's it extracts. 05/25/94 ßETA 30 ■- Added a Standalone option for PFED, will work ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ without a BBS setup. Option #3 in Select BBS (BOOM Archive Manager). For those who do a lot Standalone of file transfers and would like to use the Version features of PFED. File descs will be PCB style (No BBS Req'd) 45 chars per line and up to 40 lines. Create a tape dir and other dirs and use it as a tape catalog - whatever. ■- (C) or Esc now changes file area or conference. (was A) Added these New commands to file dir screen: A = Add a NEW file directory, dir will be Add/Delete added as the last file dir (except PCB file dirs where Uploads & Priv dirs will be last) D = Delete highlighted file directory. I = Inserts a NEW file directory, dir will be inserted before file dir that is highlighted. L = Create master file list for this conf ONLY ■- Added a new feature for BOOMLAB v.05. If the Strips UL'er "Strip Uploader\Courier Info from .DIZ (Y/N)" is & Courier set to 'Y' in setup, it will strip courier info from DIZ's from the DIZ. DIZ's are getting too damn long. If it detects a line with Uploaded by, Spread by, Traded by, or Courier... it will bybass it. ■- Viewing online GIFs with VPIC won't show exit text now. ■- BUG: If you had the same file DIR.LST for all your conferences the master (L)ist, (Z)ippy Scan, New (U)ploads would search/print them all. Now it won't repeat scanning if same dir filename. (Waterman) 05/24/94 ßETA 29 ■- New Compile method frees about 17-18 more k memory, ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ which may help with some memory shortage problems PFED reqs about 284k to run. Updated PF-PIF.DVP. ■- Added a switch for Remote Sysops. PFED -R tells PFED to use 24 line mode. Makes remote operation smoother, Remote Sysop screen jumps around less. Also included my PFED Door's '-R' Switch batch file (DOORWAY.BAT) as an example of how to set (24 line mode) it up for DOORWAY for PCBoard with the best switches. You can edit and rename it to the door file (PFED). ∙ Key '?' now also displays help screens in PFED...for remote sysops who can't use Function keys (F1). Get GIFSPEC ■- Key '=' now reads and adds GIFSPEC [###x###] on hot key highlighted file without having to go into edit mode. For Tyler Ramsey an actual registered user! @X Colors & ■- When viewing logs, or file dirs, or file searches, ANSi Stripper etc... the viewer now inteprets PCB '@X' Codes into colors & and just strips out the ANSi codes. (no colors) ■- Virus Scanning - Couldn't really do any virus scan's in the archive viewer McAfee's Virus SCAN took 488k, Tag for Virus and my program took about 283ish - wouldn't fit. Scanning using Instead of rewritting mine ;) i added the possibility User defined setting up other virus scanners under EXTERNAL PROGRAMS Virus Scanner in setup. For Ex: ThunderByte Anti-Virus 6.12 was faster, more colorful, and did a good job and was 232k smaller!. McAfee's SCAN is the default but now you can change it to your preference. Files can now be tagged for virus scanning, press <S> after tagging. Added more valid date checking and error trapping -Fixed? (Waterman) ∙ BUG: BOOMLAB - DESC.SDI wasn't extracted, looked for FILE_ID.DIZ twice. If FILE_ID.DIZ location was a byte off it couldn't be extracted - Fixed. ∙ Dates now print as MM.DD.YY format instead of MM-DD-YY ■- Found that if PSETUP couldn't find your conference data Bugs... it would keep going in a continous "CONFIG UPDATED or CORRUPT" loop without telling you the problem - Fixed. ∙ Archive Viewer - Some archive comments (>80 chars per line) caused the archive viewer to error out and not display file. When pressing <Enter> alone, returned and didn't use default path. When e<X>tracting, if a file exist it didn't overwrite - fixed. ∙ Extended Char screen (F3) was wrong size - fixed. 05/19/94 ßETA 28 ■- Added a PFEDNUKE.LOG for all nuked files, for PCB ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ users this file is found in your PCB\MAIN dir or whatever you've named it. This was designed to PFEDNUKE.LOG be used with my PFEDNUKE.PPE v1.0* for PCBoard 15.1+. & When this PPE is run it'll read this log and PFEDNUKE.PPE either leave NUKE Mail or DELETE the offending users! For Express it'll just log all nuked files in the \PFED dir. *This PPE is included in this ZIP in PFEDNUKE.ZIP. ■- BUG: Asks if you'd like to sort an area after moving files even after sorting dir using <S> - Fixed. ∙ Fixed some PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN bugs in the setup. 05/17/94 ßETA 27 ■- To ZAP them damn BBS Ads, have added 2 new keys for ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ inside the Archive Viewer. To utilize these the list of files to ZAP in BOOMLAB setup must be set. Add or ZAP BBS Ads in Z = Tag & ZAP BBS Ads (from ZAP List) Arc Viewer B = Add highlighted BBS Ad file to ZAP List. I could never remember to add em' manually. ■- Master Lists - Asks if you want to create list (Y/n) in case it's accidentally selected from main. ■- Archive Viewer - BUG: When attempting to View, Play, Run, or Scan a line not actually a file - it would error out - Fixed (limited range). It was possible to tag a blank line - Fixed. Now keeps archive date (ARJ/ZIP) when deleting files. Exploding boxes in the Arc Viewer are now faster. ■- When moving files, now shows %(pct) moved. BUG: When moving over 100 files, the ### oƒ ### didn't display right - fixed (Rifleman) 05/07/94 ßETA 26 ■- Added Create Master File List ([L]=List) to ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ main conference menu. Creates an Asc text file listing of all confs/areas named 'FILES.LST'. Master Files To use as a command line function use: List >PSETUP LIST If using in an event batch, make sure to run from the PFED directory. ■- Nuking files is now easier, tag files, then do a CTRL + N. It will leave nuke message and erase the file and leave a 0 byte file, so it can't be CTRL + N = uploaded again. Had to also add moving 0 byte Nuke tagged, files, previously it errored out with an error leave a 0 code 6. Files can then be deleted using the byte file. normal 'D' key after a time. Considered creating a seperate nuke files dir, but that would be another thing people would Fuck up. ■- Exploding boxes are faster for those still with 386 SX's (Crack Daddy) ■- BUG: When trying to delete files on the drive, it would error out with an Error Code 5 - Fixed. 04/30/94 ßETA 25 ■- When Nuking credit from users, PFED will now ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ also prompt for each file "Reason >". The file description will be replaced by a more verbose Nuke Message, such as: Why Nuked ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ & New Nuke FILE NUKED!!! - CREDIT LOST x 10 Message INCOMPLETE UPLOAD ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ Uploaded by: Whatta Lamer ∙ When deleting files and keeping descs, such as moving files offline, file now shows 'OFF-LINE' ■- Tagging files in the Archive & Raw DOS viewer Tagging Files is now possible. The Spacebar tags a file, in Viewer CTRL+U untags all tagged files. CTRL+T tags all files. Archive Viewer <D> = Deleted TAGGED files tag keys: <X> = eXtract TAGGED files (Unzip) New <R> DOS <D> = Delete TAGGED files Viewer keys: <C> = Copy TAGGED files <M> = Move TAGGED files When copying or moving files, program will automatically do a Fat Move if possible and create the destination dir doesn't exist. ∙ Changed a couple of keys in the DOS Viewer, now plays MOD or VOC, <N> now is for New Path. ∙ When deleting files in the archive, PFED will delete those damn 'undeletable' BBS ads...The ones who use ASC character 255 as a space. ∙ Added <R>aw DOS Viewer/Shell to Main Conf Menu. ∙ If hitting escape on path input, it will return to previous status instead of exiting viewer. ■- BUGS: When doing a CTRL+S, (Save while in dir) sometimes the first file edited got screwed (showed another filename etc..) - Fixed. ∙ When adopting files 0 bytes files or sometimes sub-dirs were included - Fixed (Rifleman) ∙ Increased Desqview PIF to minimum 240k to run. 04/26/94 ßETA 24 ■- When Nuking credit from users, PFED will prompt ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ for each file "Nuke Credit X (Enter=1)", press <Enter> to remove times(x) 1, or enter the # you Nuke Factor wish the filesize to multiplied by and subtracted from the user's credit as extra punishment. You can also enter a 0 to not take any credit away also. (Rifleman) If the description isn't nuked also, PFED will add as the 1st line "FILE WAS NUKED!!! - CREDIT LOST x ###", Nuke Alert where ### is the nuke factor. This will be White on Red (@X4F)...I know it's not verbose enough but it's a start...eh. ∙ Any manually entered names were case sensitive - fixed. ∙ PFED will compare the actual filesize and the file listing filesize and use the highest #. If user's total bytes < 0 then bytes = 0. ■- When doing a <Z>ippy scan or New ploads scan from the dir menu (Not Conf menu) it'll prompt with a PCB type prompts: "Area: (1-18), (A)ll, (U)ploads, Quicker Scans (Enter)=none" this should speed up scans. Scans from the conference menu will scan all dirs in all conferences. (MikeySoft....I think) ■- Added a little to the file nfo command. ■- Opening screen title now 'PFED' ■- BUGS: When doing a Ctrl + Z (Batch Zap file descs) It cleared the lines but didn't remove them. ∙ After sorting a directory, and then doing a Them bugs... <Z>ippy scan or new ploads scan, proggy would get REAL screwed up - fixed. ∙ Zip Comments with TABS in them were not correctly displayed in the archive viewer. (Rifleman) 04/23/94 ßETA 23 ■- PFED now requires a key (for future PD release)... ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ This package contains a generic free key as it's Requires Key not meant for PD release. I'll give Beta people a personalized key too, ask me for it on BubbaLand II. ■- FINALLY - When deleting files, PFED now asks Remove Uploader Credit". This will search for the 'Uploaded by:' or your personal 'uploaded by' string Zap UL Credit! if different (in Setup). If uploader not found, PFED will prompt for a user name to be entered manually. It'll repeat this until a legitimate name is entered or you press a <Enter> alone. (Doc Skull & many others) ■- All conferences (Max 100) are now selectable from the Can handle up Conf. selection screen, not just the 1st 10. Use 100 confs now up/down arrows, page up/down keys and Home/End to scroll and find the desired conference. ■- Added Shade effects on the input boxes. ■- BUGS: Always asked if you wanna save if blank line. ∙ If DIZ was turned off OR if answering 'NO' to process this file it wouldn't show 'Uploaded by:' ∙ After tagging files for deletion and deleting is aborted, files would still show tagged but weren't. Bugs.... ∙ If all the files in a dir were deleted, you could adopt files but they would show up blank. ∙ If attempting to edit 1st entry in a blank dir, PFED would error out, now doesn't do anything. ∙ Setup didn't load defaults if config not found. Also, if BBS config not found user MUST now answer where it can be found before proceding. 04/21/94 ßETA 22 ■- Added Sort destination dirs - When working from a ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ directory, say uploads, and moving files to other dirs, when exiting that dir it will prompt to Sort Auto-Sorts each dir # where files where moved to: <y/N,a,q>. changed dirs 'A' sorts all destination dirs, 'Q' sorts none. NOTE: PCBoard dirs will be sorted by whatever the dir's Sort Order is set to <1-4>. Express will always sorted by name <1>. ■- Also Added <S>ort all dirs from the dir menu. PFED Sort All Dirs will prompt Sort Dir #1 <y/N/a/q>, you can do a yes/no for each, 'A'= sort all dirs, 'Q'=Quit. ■- Added the following commands to dir edit screen: CTRL + S = Save file dir NOW, resume editing. (Doc Skull) CTRL + Q = Don't Save & Quit to Dir menu. New commands CTRL + T = Tag ALL files CTRL + G = Get .DIZ Descs for all tagged files (Rifleman) CTRL + P = Test/Process all tagged files CTRL + Z = Zap descs for all tagged files (Rifleman) ∙ Help Screen is now 2 pages to accomodate all these damn commands. ■- Added setup option to use external programs for copying files....MS-DOS's XCOPY <X> uses extended External Copy memory for copies and MAY be faster for some of Program you. I found it about the same, but I use a network. Novell Netware's NCOPY <N> will copy files faster on Novell Network. If you try copying files and PFED says 'ERROR MOVING FILE...' you will have to go back to the normal copy. ■- Added more error detection in the move routines, previously if PFED tried to check the destination file and it wasnt there it would error out - Now reports 'ERROR MOVING FILE TO...' ■- Uploader (if found) is listed when <T>oggling screen info in the edit dir file mode....it also shows full path and if it is online/offline. ■- Defined .ALI (Alive) .NIT (Nitro) .SCA (Scar) as ANSI Extensions in Archive viewer. ■- BUGS: If doing <K> lone a file desc, and the 1st letter is a '/' it would error out - fixed. 04/18/94 ßETA 21 ■- Added some more normal file dir viewing capability, ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ =New uploads, and <Z>=Zippy Scan are available from then Conf menu & dir menus. The new ploads Scan for New list all files on after the date entered. If Uploads and you do a Z or U from the main conf menu it will do file searchs scan ALL confs, if you do it from the directory menu it will scan ONLY that conference. ∙ Added <V>iew dir from the dir menu. You can now View dirs in view a complete dir in normal ASC mode. Works like normal mode a 'F' command if you were on the BBS...but you can scroll back & forth. ∙ Added <Home> and <End> to the text viewer that views all of the above. Worked on improving the viewer somewhat...I use a 486-66 dunno how slow it is on a jr. system, but the good part is it uses no memory. ■- Added Help Screen for the dir menu. (F1) ■- Worked on the setup program a bit. ■- BUGS: Desc Lines past line 15 would sometimes show up on other files - Buffer was not totally cleared. ∙ If there was a PCB conference that had a upload or Bugs... private dir or both and no other dirs, then you couldn't access it - FIXED (Rifleman) ∙ Filenames should always be capped, yeah they were you just couldn't see it before - Fixed. (Rifleman) 04/16/94 ßETA 20 ■- BUG: Wouldn't run Setup, error in line 2 of PSETUP BOOMLAB.CFG needed to be replaced...erase it or use the one in this version and redefine parameters. Also fixed so it similar probs dont happen again. ■- Added <Z>ippy Scan. For now it scans ALL dirs, and if matches are found displays them in a text viewer you can scroll back & forth in. (Same one the logs use) (MikeySoft) 04/15/94 ßETA 19 ■- IMPORTANT! - You can now define how many lines you want for file file descriptions (1-40). High #'s cause the program to slow down when indexing, low #'s may cause you to lose a lot of the DIZ info (you may want this as their getting outta hand). Note: any file desc with more lines that you have set are gonna be chopped off. I've set mine to 18. The editor will scroll the desc text up & down in the window. Page Up & Page Down keys are usefull for big descs. ■- BOOMLAB v0.02 - Setting up for dual use (BBS & PFED), not quite there yet. Added age checker, ZAP BBS files, Add files list, and what to do with bad files. Setup all under BOOMLAB SETUP in the setup program. In local mode it will ask to confirm before deleting or moving any files. ■- If a filename is renamed in full editing, program will prompt 'Rename actual filename (Y/N)' and if 'Y' will rename the file in DOS (Rifleman) ■- Increased # of possible file dirs from 150 to 300 (Ken) ■- Express v1.00ß - Added <X> file transfer (TRANS.LOG) log viewing (The Drunkard) ■- Misc: If Page up on 1st page, now moves cursor to line 1. Press <Enter> on caller's log = Node 1. ■- BUG: Reconfiguring a PCB Dir, screwed it up! - Fixed 04/07/94 ßETA 18 ■- EXPRESS BUG: All old dirs had dates formated with slashes Ex: 04/03/94 PFED only accepted 04-03-94 format - Fixed. (Caused some dirs not to load) ∙ Can now view the Express Syslog log (C), it is not as color coded as the PCB version as I dont have a log to test <Hint> ■- The 'Uploaded by' text color has been changed to include the whole 'Uploaded By:' text line. Make sure to include all color codes and a trailing space, one is not added. (MikeySoft) ■- Check free HD Space is now <H>, it now works on also works on all screens. It gets and displays info much faster than before on some systems. ■- Caller & Transfer logs for PCB now are scrollable in either direction. Since they're ASC files i didn't load em into memory as they're HUGE. I use SEEK which may cause it to be a little slow. 04/05/94 ßETA 17 ■- NEW: Added a Setting 'Add Blank Line to File Desc (Y/N)". If 'Y' then PFED will insert a blank line between all file desc's in the directory. However, 1 line desc's are skipped. Makes the dir more aesthetically pleasing. This is done during the 'writing' process. (for MickeySoft) ■- MAJOR BUG!: 1st line was sometimes one space over, when local uploaded and no DIZ. Fixed and will also correct a dir when used once. (Doc Skull) ■- OTHER BUGS: If moving 1 file and there was a FAT move error then screen got screwed - Fixed. ∙ If processing a file online, and no DIZ was found it wouldnt run the rest of BOOMLAB - Fixed. ∙ If 2 uploaders listed, now gets the last one. 04/04/94 ßETA 16 ■- Added Express v1.00ß by Ken Sallot, previously known as LSD, now has PCB style file dirs. (Thats about the only file structure thats similar) ■- The setup now reads the BBS selected's config and writes needed variables to PFED.CFG. Needed to do this to accomodate many different types of file structures between PCB & Express. ∙ Redid Setup program, new section for BOOMLAB settings. Added a line to input 'Uploaded by:' color code (PCB @X## codes). ■- When editing a desc, Ctrl-I (Insert) inserted a line AFTER the cursor, not before like its supposed too. - Fixed. Added Ctrl-A (Add a line) It adds a line to the desc and moves the cursor to it. ■- Redid free space screen (C). Has meters showing available free space. Can now also be used from area selection screen. ■- LOCAL UPLOAD BUGS: When asked "Process All Files" if <Esc> is pressed the graphics will screw up - fixed. ∙ If ALL the files in a dir are deleted it'll still show one file left - fixed. ∙ If processing a file already online, and no DIZ is found; uploader and dates wont be displayed again. ∙ BOOMLAB would pop-up even after answering 'N' to process all files - fixed. 04/03/94 ßETA 15 ■- Added View caller logs & Transfer log from the main screen. Can do search for string (S) or starting date (D). Added lotsa color to these ASC files. ■- Completely redoing local uploads: ∙ Added PFEDTEST.BAT which works like the PCBTEST.BAT COMMENT.BAT and COMMENT.CMT are no longer used. If using a zip comment then define full path and name in PSETUP. ∙ Working on BOOMLAB which will be a zip processor. For now v.01 will be used for local uploads to extract oldest/newest file dates. ∙ Using BOOMLAB, you can add a line for newest oldest files, or DIZ & NFO dates. (Changeable in the BOOMLAB.CFG file) To use this line set "Show Oldest/Newest Files" to Y in PSETUP. ∙ Won't ask Use DIZ anymore, if it's set to Y in PSETUP then it'll use it. If later it's extracted using a Ctrl-G in editor or Z from dir list then it'll prompt the old way. And when doing so it will keep the uploader, not overwrite. This will make local mass uploads a hell of a lot faster. ∙ If DIZ was greater then # of lines, it would not show uploaded by. PPE's like WIPE would then not work. Uploaded by will now always be shown on the last line if DIZ's longer then 15 lines. Oldest/Newest file dates if on, will always proceed it. Eventually PFED will be fixed to accept the # of description lines set by the user. 03/30/94 ßETA 14 ■- MAJOR BUG: If there wasn't either a blank line or header info at the beginning of a dir file it would bomb out on sorts & moves & such. - FIXED Had to to with properly recognize which is an actual filename. Increased the maximum lines in header desc to 100. (Mr. Bill) ■- BUG: Didn't write the DV PIF Path correctly - Fixed (Mr. Bill) ■- BUG: Couldn't delete last desc. line FROM last line. ■- Conference Cursor now starts at 1st conf with files. 03/29/94 ßETA 13 ■- Increased # of Description Lines to 15 from 13. ■- Pressing 'N' anywhere displays the PCB Node Monitor utility. Helps with testing and a nice PCB util to take advantage of. ■- Added PIF install for DV in the setup. The PIF is copied to the \DV directory and the user then installs. Since I dont use DV much settings are subject to change. ■- Improved some more file sharing routines, Mr.Bill still had probs in DesqView - Fixed? ■- Added some RIP support to archive viewer. An external RIP viewer must be defined in PSETUP. 03/23/94 ßETA 12 ■- [MAJOR BUG] all have been complaining about, when trying to read or write a file already opened or opened by PCBoard while working in PFED it would crap out - Fixed! ■- Can run PFED setup program from main screen 'S'. ■- When adopting files it asked for name of uploader even if 'Show Uploaded By' was turned off - fixed. ■- Minor screen updates: Changed Conf # to Area # on dir listing. Updated start and end .com screens. 02/26/94 ßETA 11 ■- ADDED 2 new keys when using Full File Editor "E": Ctrl+G = Gets FILE_ID.DIZ or DESC.SDI from Archive for description. Ctrl+P = Puts Description into a FILE_ID.DIZ and adds it to the archive. In effect, a DIZ editor! (Mr. Bill) ■- BUG - Won't SORT large dir files. Now will handle much bigger files 3400+.
